Jimmy Heath to Appear At Pre-Show Discussion
And Post Show Book Signing

Who/What:
Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2011-12 concert season opens with an exclusive double bill featuring two of jazz music’s most venerated musicians: Jimmy Heath and Jon Hendricks. The two NEA Jazz Masters will lead their own bands for this special evening of swing standards. Jimmy Heath, celebrating his 85th birthday, is a triple threat as a composer, arranger, and instrumentalist, and since 1947, has performed with some of the most renowned big bands in jazz history. Jon Hendricks, at 90 years old, is known for his unique and fast vocalese style, a talent that few vocalists can imitate. To open Jazz at Lincoln Center’s new season, Hendricks will perform with guest vocalists and the Andy Farber Orchestra.

Free to all ticketholders beginning at 7pm: pre-show live music provided by Javier Nero in the Atrium, and pre-concert discussion featuring Jimmy Heath in The Agnes Varis and Karl Leichtman Studio. Immediately following the concert, Heath will sign copies of his book I Walked With Giants (Temple University Press).

Tickets: Ticket prices are $10, $30, $50, $75, $95 or $120 dependent upon seating section.

Note: Hot Seats, $10 orchestra seats for each Rose Theater performance (excluding Jazz For Young People concerts), are available for purchase to the general public on the Wednesday of each performance week. Subject to availability. Hot Seats are available only by walk up at the Box Office, maximum of four per person.

Box Office hours: Monday-Saturday from 10am to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain) and Sunday from noon to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain).
