Taylor Made Jazz is coming to the Queen City Jazz Festival July 27,2013 at 5pm presented by the Colored Musicians Club Located at 145 Broadway in Buffalo New York 14203

This group brings a unique blend of their own original jazz flavors mixed with R&B and blues. This will be an wonderful show featuring the Jazz and blues flavors of Melissa Kate and the Rock and blues edge of Joyce Nixon. Also on board will be Powerful sound of Jazz trumpeter Brian Freeman and the sexy sax sounds of Mrs Tomoka Numora Jarvis as they perform many selections from the current CD’s Agape and the Next Step which are available on their web site at www.taylormadejazz.com. This group has had a long and dynamic history :
100s of thousands of miles traveled, hundreds of school performances and a countless number of performance for the US Embassies troops and various festival, this group emerged to set a legacy in motion.
Taylor Made Jazz’s dynamic approach and smooth style has made them a hit to every audience they have entertained. Their world travels have taken them to, Central and south America, Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba, Italy, Greece, Spain, Germany, Egypt, Israel, Turkey Jordan, France England and Various African Countries. While signed to Vivendi Universal Music Group The overwhelming response to their CDs throughout the years took them to the top of the MP3 Jazz charts in 2003 noted buy Billboard Magazine. This group won several awards, including the Diamond Accord Award presented by the International Federation of Festival Organizations F.I.D.O.F. in 1996. The group also won the top R&B Award presented by Night Life Magazine during 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and 1996; also the Peoples Choice Award for Jazz in 2005, 2004, and 2003. This group is also noted for their work entertaining US Troops and allies overseas through AFE Armed Forces Entertainment, MWR, USO. They also support charities such as the United Way Canada, Children’s Hospital, UNCF, AIDS Research and United Way Buffalo.

On July 22, 2003 the common council named that day Taylor Made Jazz day in the city of Buffalo. Todays crew line up revolves around vocalist: Joyce Wilson Nixon, Melissa Kate, Joey Diggs, Musicians -drummers Mike Crymes, Tim Webb, Guitarist: Jeff Nixon, Nelson Thomas, Bassist: Jerry Livingston, Richie Valentino Stoney Dixon and Jerry Sampson, Brass players Trumpeter – Brian Freeman, Saxophonist Mrs Tomoka Nomura Jarvis ,Trombone -Bob Miers and Keyboardist Van Taylor. Van Has always had a firm belief in supporting the community from a local scale to a worldwide vision, On April 25 2007, Taylor Made Jazz celebrated their 20th Anniversary the proceeds benefited National Inner Cities Youth Opportunities “NICYO” and Student Against Violence Education “S.A.V.E”. The groups current global project is called the Hunger Project proceeds from their compilation CD “Agape The hunger Project” benefit this organization that supports the education of people to learn to feed themselves and improve overall life condition on their own through education, more info on the project can be found at www.thp.org

Taylor Made Jazz performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra to support the Foodbank of Western New York in 2009 and 2010 at Klienhan’s Music Hall.
Van Taylor the leader of Taylor Made Jazz has been busy traveling in the Caribbean area working with the Traveling Guitar Foundation conducting workshops on Jazz improv and basic music business at various schools on Barbados, Antigua and Greneda of which they donated Guitars to Children to create programs, Van has also had several performance with Soul Rocksta Derek Mckieth and Drummer Tim Webb at the Naniki Jazz Safari produced by Tom Hinds
