Award-winning Canadian jazz pianist, vocalist and songwriter Laila Biali is coming back to the SubCulture stage every Monday in July Throughout her second residency at the venue, Laila will welcome on stage fine musicians from the NYC community such as NPR praised Theo Bleckmann and Dominick Farinacci, and Berkley College of Music alums Jordan Perlson and Donny McCaslin, DownBeat Magazine’s Critics Poll Rising Star Joel Frahm, among many others. Laila (who has toured with Suzanne Vega, Chris Botti and Paula Cole and recorded with Sting) will be performing original songs along with her own arrangements of jazz standards and contemporary pop songs, some of which will have been selected by audience members in a project she likes to call REQUESTOMATIC, which means that anyone planning to attend one of these shows can request any song for her to arrange just for them. Email requests to requestomatic@lailabiali.com. (Up to 2 brand new selections will be arranged per show.) www.lailabiali.com Tix: $15
