Eugene Uman’s Convergence Project
Saturday June 6, 2015 – 8pm
Vermont Jazz Center
The Convergence Project’s music, composed by leader Eugene Uman, is innovative and exploratory on one side and accessible, and fun to listen to on the other.
It is unified by the integrity of the compositions, the shared vision of the group and a balance of jazz harmony, rock, and funk with Colombian rhythms such as pasillo, cumbia, curulao, puya and porro.
Having released their second CD, “Six Elements,” the band is gearing up for the next phase of development.
Michael Zsoldos (sax), Jeff Galindo (trombone), Sebastian Cruz (guitar), Uman (piano), Stomu Takeishi (bass) and Satoshi Takeishi (drums). Eugene Friesen appears when possible as guest artist.
