Composer and producer Camilo Lara, aka Mexican Institute of Sound, isone of the most prominent names in Latin American music and culture and the Grammy-winner and eight-time Latin Grammy nominee is set to return to London on Wednesday 25th September for a rare full band show at the Jazz Café in Camden.
Widely regarded as a pioneer of the Mexican electronica movement, M.I.S’s music elevates every dancefloor with his trademark blend of Cumbia and Cha-Cha-Cha and the Jazz Café concert will showcase the Mexico City-born artist’s illustrious 20-year career, which has seen his music featured in TV shows including Narcos, Breaking Bad and Californication, on one of the best-selling games of all time Grand Theft Auto, alongside collaborations with the likes of Norah Jones, Beck, Graham Coxon of Blur, the Beastie Boys, Metallica, Tony Allen, Lila Downs and Los Angeles Azules (one of the best-selling Mexican groups of the last 25 years).
Camilo also led Mexrrissey, a project commissioned for La Linea – The London Latin Music Festival – back in 2015 which reinterpreted classic Morrissey tracks. Mexrrissey went on to release their debut album No Manchester which became the first ever Mexican record to appear in the UK music charts.
