Chaye Alexander, a native of Brooklyn, is a dynamic entrepreneur, radio host, and advocate for jazz and soul music. Growing up in New York City, she was surrounded by the rhythms of classic R&B, jazz, and soul, sparking a deep-rooted passion for music. As a teenager, she started DJing alongside her brother at local community events, refining her skills in mixing styles and creating musical atmospheres that connected with audiences.
Her enthusiasm for creating immersive music experiences led her to establish Chayz Lounge Radio in 2009, an online platform dedicated to smooth jazz and “sophisti-soul,” providing opportunities for both established and rising musicians. This success inspired her to open Chayz Lounge in Columbia, South Carolina, a live music venue that has grown into one of the region’s top spots for intimate performances.
Chayz Lounge is designed as a refined listening space, prioritizing the music experience alongside thoughtfully selected food, wine, and atmosphere.
In addition to managing Chayz Lounge, Alexander is the Musical Director for the Columbia Museum of Art’s “Live at Boyd Plaza” series and contributes to the local arts community through her work with the South Carolina Jazz Foundation. Across all her efforts, she is dedicated to fostering meaningful music experiences that highlight artistry, culture, and togetherness.
