Part of the Legendary Jungle Brothers and Supergroup Native Tongue (Featuring Queen Latifah and Q-Tip), the Dynamic Artist Shows a Harder, Edgier Side with New Release
Trailblazing hip hop, house, and fusion artist BAM! (a.k.a. Afrika Baby Bam), who was one part of the legendary Jungle Brothers and supergroup Native Tongues (featuring Queen Latifah and Q-Tip), is showing a harder, more rock-driven side to his music. The multi-dimensional artist officially unveiled the video for “Break Our Bond” at BAM! “Break Our Bond” Official Video. The single will be available for download later this month.
Describing the song as a “punky, rock track that is quite different than the Jungle Brothers’ music,” BAM! wrote the song during the Pandemic lockdown but only had rough mixes until he turned to acclaimed production company Camp Rattler earlier this summer. BAM! viewed their teaser trailer for the DJ Todd Terry documentary InHouse: The Todd Terry Story and knew instantly that he not only wanted them to direct his video but help him flesh out the song.
“I loved the style and grit of the InHouse trailer and contacted Camp Rattler to share my rock project,” said BAM!” “Whilst going through their past works I saw that our vision and artistic direction was aligned perfectly.”
Camp Rattler, at the helm of Director/Producer James Callahan, First AC Jared Sokirka, and Producer Kristin Rose Shimonis-Callahan, enlisted spooky, punkabilly rockers One Revived and Drummer Josh Karis (Cabinet, Mike MiZ, Leroy Justice) to round out BAM!’s powerful, soulful voice. Karis served as the music director for “Break Our Bond” and the song was recorded and mixed in Northeast Pennsylvania. To film the video, Camp Rattler interspliced studio shots and imagery from an abandoned town near Wilkes-Barre, PA. The result is a video that truly captures the essence of BAM!’s seemingly effortless transition between his fun, OG status in the hip hop community and him legitimately kicking in the big door of the rock world and screaming “Hello!”.
