Welcome to the EJN Sampler # 33. This week we begin with ‘The Boogaloo Lounge’ from keyboardist Lou Pomanti’s recent release Welcome to the Boogaloo Lounge. Virtuoso jazz violinist, Christian Howe shares ‘Bobby’s Bad’ from his sophomore release Out of the Blue on Resonance Records featuring blues master, guitarist Robben Ford. Jazz vocalist Sophie Berkal-Sarbit brings a fresh take to ‘Long As You’re Living’ from her Young & Foolish CD. Pianist, composer and jazz educator Chris Andrew’s original song ‘Walk Home’ highlights Latin rhythms featuring bassist John Benitez, drummer Donald Edwards and trumpeter Jo Magnareilli on his latest release Strange Days on Chronograph Records. The Boxcar Boys ‘Mugg’s Island’ is a tasty blend of wild gypsy and old-time jazz from their Don’t Be Blue CD of quirky original tunes and fun favourites. The perfect follow-up from HOTCHA!, is a cover Louis Armstrong’s co-penned ‘Ol’ Man Mose’ from their Dust Bowl Roots (Songs for the new depression) CD. Enjoy~
