Elvis “Sonny” Gibson: Local historian, lecturer and family member of Charlie Parker shares the local history of Parker, displays artifacts and signs his book on the history of Black Kansas City where Bird “nested.”

Stinson McClendon and Rodney Thompson, local African American filmmakers discuss the history of filming black Kansas City’s people and events over 30 years and their involvement in the Mutual Musicians Foundation’s documentary, “Still Jammin’”.

Foundation 627 Big Band, playing historic music from early KC Swing, Bennie Moten Jay McShann and some Big Band arrangements of Bird tunes. MMF Board member Steve Lambert is the leader of this band.

Mutual Musicians Foundation All Stars playing Bird’s tunes the rest of the night…opening into a jam session
Members of this band include- Steve Lambert, Mike Herrera, Chris Clarke, Dominique Sanders and Brad Williams.
The evening events are free to members of the Mutual Musicians Foundation and $5 for non-members.
