Pat Metheny Unity Group’s music from KIN (←→), will perform songs from his new release, as well as some catalog favorites. Hornsby’s hard-driving blend of jazz, classical and bluegrass will feature Sonny Emory on drums.
The past year has been remarkable for Metheny. After receiving his 20th Grammy for Unity Band and releasing the critically acclaimed Tap: John Zorn’s Book of Angels, Vol. 20, he was voted into DownBeat magazine’s Hall of Fame, making him the youngest member and fourth jazz guitarist to be chosen. With the release of KIN (←→), Metheny has again re-invented himself in an ever-evolving career.
Bruce Hornsby’s work displays a creative iconoclasm that’s been a constant in the artist’s two-and-a-half decade recording career. His commercial stock soared early on, when “The Way It Is” – the title track of his 1986 debut album – became one of the most popular songs on American radio. Despite his early mainstream successes, Hornsby has pursued a more personal, idiosyncratic musical path, focusing on projects that sparked his creative interest, including collaborations with the Grateful Dead, Spike Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Don Henley, Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Béla Fleck, Bonnie Raitt and Robbie Robertson.
