On Thursday, February 27 at 8 PM in the Juilliard Theater, the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra plays music of big band innovator Stan Kenton in a concert entitled Stan: The Music of Stan Kenton. Victor Goines, Artistic Director of Jazz Studies at Juilliard, conducts. The first half of the program includes such Kenton signature works as Artistry in Rhythm, Opus in Pastels, Youngblood, Concerto to End All Concertos, What’s New?, Interlude, and Kingfish. The second half of the concert features Cuban Fire Suite, Kenton’s famously exciting combination of big-band power and Cuban rhythms.
