CATSKILL JAZZ FACTORY, a program of the CATSKILL MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION, is hosting a weeklong Artists in Residency, culminating in concerts featuring the MARCUS ROBERTS TRIO, the CÉCILE MCLORIN SALVANT QUARTET, and Artistic Director AARON DIEHL.

All participants of the CATSKILL JAZZ FACTORY’s ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE will perform a high-energy concert to culminate the residency week.

All the above musicians will be participating in the Artists in Residence Program August 6-10, as well as the Antonio Madruga Trio and the Benny Benack Quintet, who will be rehearsing throughout the week and playing on Saturday night, along with the headliners. Antonio Madruga is a Cuban-American pianist who was recently awarded the prestigious Ella Fitzgerald Award for outstanding soloist at the 2012 “Essentially Ellington” competition at Lincoln Center. Trumpeter Benny Benack III has quickly gained a reputation for being an incredibly versatile, fiery improviser who lends superb technique and musicality to any setting. He has won many major jazz trumpet competitions in the past few years and was recently featured on Wynton Marsalis’ list of the Next Generation of jazz Greats. http://www.bennybenackjazz.com

Founded in 2012, the CATSKILL JAZZ FACTORY, led by Artistic Director AARON DIEHL, propagates jazz music through intergenerational dialogue, community building, and artistic excellence; offering jazz performances and educational programs within the Hudson Valley.  This year marks the second annual residency, which focuses on artists’ development.
