Bria Skonberg

April 2 – New York – The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, is pleased to welcome award- winning trumpeter/vocalist/composer BRIA SKONBERG, for its new “Second Act, A Late Night Series of Fun and Entertainment” at the Café Carlyle. Ms. Skonberg’s show, Brass and Belles, is a tribute to the historic horn and female vocal pairings of greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Anita O’Day and Roy Eldridge and more.

Shows are Thursdays and Fridays April 11/12, April 25/26 and May 23/24, at 10:45pm. She will appear with an ensemble including Dalton Ridenhour at the Piano; Darrian Douglas on Drums and Sean Cronin on Upright Bass and Vocals. The “Second Act” series of shows has a $25 cover charge on Thursdays, $30 on Fridays and a food and beverage minimum of $25 any evening. Ms. Skonberg was just named as a 2013 Award nominee by the Jazz Journalist Association in the category of Up and Coming Artist. Hailing from Chilliwack, BC, and now living in New York City, BRIA SKONBERG got her start as a professional big band singer at age sixteen doubling on trumpet and has since performed as a bandleader and guest artist all over North America, Europe, China and Japan. Since arriving in New York two years ago she has appeared in concert halls and clubs such as Symphony Space, Birdland, The Iridium, and Dizzy’s among the likes of Nicholas Payton, Howard Alden, Anat Cohen, Bucky Pizzarelli and Scott Robinson. Her debut American release, SO IS THE DAY, peaked at #7 on the US National jazz charts and features an all- star ensemble including John Pizzarelli, Victor Goines and Wycliffe Gordon.
