Pianist Caili O’Doherty’s 2015 release Padme won NPR’s 10th Annual Jazz Critic’s Poll for Best Debut Album. She garnered an ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Award and recognition for her work as a composer and pianist from Downbeat Magazine.
She was selected as one of five female jazz pianists invited to participate in the inaugural Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center and is a member of the Global Jazz Institute
O’Doherty participated in U.S. State Dep’t tours to Colombia, Togo and Benin and appeared in several international festivals. Now based in New York City, Caili is poised to take it to the next step which includes several teaching gigs and upcoming festival appearances.
She will be performing at the VJC with her working quartet including Caroline Davis (saxophone), Jared Henderson (bass) and Cory Cox (drums).Emerging Artist Series.
