INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED TORONTO BASED DUO DIANA BRAITHWAITE & CHRIS WHITELEY SET TO PERFORM AT BEACHES INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL
Toronto, ON– Since the release of their celebrated recording Nightbird Blues, multiple-award winning Toronto based blues duo Diana Braithwaite & Chris Whiteley have toured the world sharing their innovative and original tribute to the Blues of the 1930’s and 40’s. The duo have performed at numerous Festivals and concerts worldwide, including successful tours of Art Centers in the United States, United Kingdom, Russia and several national tours across North America. Now Toronto audiences have a chance to see Braithwaite & Whiteley performing in their hometown as part of the 23rd Annual Beaches International Jazz Festival on July 16.

A graceful and honest performer, Diana Braithwaite is one of the most celebrated female blues singers of modern times. A true lady of the blues, her authentic voice and charisma on stage has led her to perform with and share company of legends such as Mel Brown, Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker and Jeff Healey. Chris Whiteley is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, trumpet and harmonica for over 30 years namely with blues artists Leon Redbone, Sonnyland Slim and Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson. To date, Whiteley has appeared on over 200 recordings. Together, Braithwaite and Whiteley present authentic, vintage blues while they continue to expand their horizons internationally and please audiences young and old. The popular American Jazz and Blues Bible Downbeat Magazine said about the duo “It’s a rare and good thing when two talented performers join forces”.
